ROAD TO HEALTHY

Funny how i sign up to a one year contract gym but never really go serious.

1) i rarely went for the first 6 months as i was still healing my neck ( spine muscle got twisted).. untill now
2) Didn't really know what to do or keep track with routine
3) Didn't really op to barbell and carrying any weights as doctor recommended me not to carry weights.
4) Asshole gym rejected my medical letter from Life Care saying that it's not a proper hospital. (True Fitness.. FTW)

So since im bored at home and wanted to do something maybe set a goal like my bets friend told me and just strive for it. Before i started healthy, i knew i was going for classes, RPM, Body combat, Pilates, sometimes if im no going classes, i jog, cardio and i knew i was consistent. So i started setting a goal - A MONTH TO HEALTHY

Just to try and feel what is it like to go healthy and how do people maintain it. I am a carbs person, My boyfriend and i eats Mcdonalds not very often but still eats, pasta, i'm a dessert lover and i am a food hunter.
CUTTING DOWN ALL THESE IS NOT EASY!

This is how my first day started. I  did went super hungry in the evening

My first dinner

During my 2 -3 weeks, i was craving spicy! All my food was steamed and i missed the burst of flavors in my mouth and i miss savoury feeling. I tried to set a cheat day for every saturday but sometimes it varies, like if i cheat on wednesday - i wont cheat on saturday.

What do i eat during my cheat day - Maggi Mee Goreng , shared with my buddy ( dont judge), 6 chips and that its! 3 mouthful of ice cream, sour power as i craving for something sour, should have drank passionfruit instead. Went out to eat supper with a group of friends and we ate cockerels, chicken wings, snails and Wan

Felt the guilt of even going for a cheat day! i have not had pasta, process food, chocolate in a month!

PICTURES NOT IN ORDER! HERE ARE SOME OF FOOD I ATE!

MUM HAD LALA that looks like it was gonna spoil soon.

chawanmushi attempt 1

when your out and dont know what to eat - go for japanese
thanks to my mum's awesome asian cooking, i get to eat delicious healthy food AND  my dad who is a huge teddy bear told me to bare with it, soon i will get to eat and i said what bare with it? i am really enjoying it!

steam chicken breast with mushrooms and shredded sweet potato
i had to resist not eating Nasi Lemak, noodle soup, NO RICE, curry and many more. Good progress! During my start of healthy food, i started something that i always stare at girls doing it - BARBELL!  and just started strength and conditioning.

steam salmon with brinjal and zucchini
i weighted myself during my 2 week of healthy and i lost 2kgs ( equivalent to 2000 cal)  just by going for classes! Honestly, the last time i weight myself, everything was sad face and now ALL HAPPY FACE. LOVE LOVE! Everything went down steep!
Podgy and the banker muesli

steam fish with giger and carrots for flavor

salmon kimchi salad
One of my fav - chicken breast and mash sweet potato and french beans.
small chicken breast with bell pepper and brocollo - aside from that, fruit salad for munching.
tried to make a nice picture for my morning oats replaced with ( overnight oats)

Though i am so not a fitness junkie, had bits of cheating but i do really enjoy waking up to a flat tummy, or when i eat something spicy it's even more spicier. i managed to break 2 minute record of plank and 28 minutes, 3km, 200 cal. Step by Step. I hope to continue this to 3 - 6 months.

What am i trying to achieve - loosing my body fat, gaining muscle, loosing my triceps flabby arms OMG! and just gaining confidence.

i know one month can't really see much but just by eating healthy, my stomach feels less bloated and my resistance to nice food should stop! Those who love eating carbs like me, just stop eating rice or noodles or meat  - only breast. Don't over steam your chicken breast - 7 min is just enough and PLEASE - DETOX!

I would like to thank my best friend Ariel for giving me tips and supporting me. She always told me to stop whinning about my weight and do something about it.

Also, i think i shall start taking before and after shots to see results! So much more to learn and  i'm enjoying it.

Finally Graduated! + Wedding at the same day

It's hard to believe that after two and a half years of blood, sweat, tears and loosing friends i finally come to realized that there are lesson learnt.

Waited for one year for this graduation ceremony and people were still hooked in their internship last year. Been working in 3 -4 companies in the past year that taught me alot in terms of branding and events.

This is the reason why i started and made the decision to have a Diploma, the feeling of working after Diploma and 2 certs from IACT and AAA. What i learned in college is only a quarter of basics but i what i learned in assignments and projects is more than just teory. Why i chose IACT COLLEGE and not fancy colleges it's because IACT is known for Mass Comm/ Broadcasting and it's small, everybody knows everybody and everybody knows lecturers and admin. It's like one big family.

I came to college with a fresh mind after SPM and i met people who are already living their dreams as a singer or actress or blogger or photographer and how have i not known all these when i growing up? I guess high school didn't expose me to all these things. Then i met a new friend from a videography workshop i attended, she calls bloggers to events and she started inviting me for Henessy and etc and she said "you should start a blog" and so i did. Here is how i started blogging and found something to do in college.

Then i had photography class that taught me motion photo, bokeh and many more, i thought to myself i had my DSLR since i was 16 for BRATS ( star journalism programme) and i hardly used it, so i bought my 50mm lens and started taking photos of my friends. Photography page on the right taskbar.

Then i had advertising class that changed my perspective of looking at bilboard ads, posters, gimmick and started paying attention on watching company ads  ( i used to put too many things on my poster coz i love colours but i never known it was TOO MUCH). Love this class!

I used to hate computer graphics where we are required to use photoshop and illustrator, i hate it that my creativity was zero at that time and didnt know what to do or how to do. Then i started paying attention to things i see outside, inspiration and started collecting it, taking pictures and keeping it as my reference. Now, i hardly use photoshop but more to Lightroom!

Towards my last sem, we are required to choose our electives and i chose subjects like events and pr.
For events and corporate comm, we have 3 months to plan out a huge project and students were divided into groups such as creative department,pr department and logistics. You can view it here Articles, I was on the Pr department as i got a few contacts i could use whom i met when i went for blog reviews. During event day, all the hard work of calling media for a media launch or getting people/volunteers are pretty tough as it was a college assignment, some media take it as nothing. During event day, it all comes alive and the directors of each department was telling us what to do and we could see another side of personality from other people. Then, there was evaluation for the whole class to tell what you did good and bad and there were many miscommunication, tears and critics, i took it the hard way but sooner or later i take it as a lesson learnt.

I would say that these two subjects gave me a glance through what is the working world really is but when i started interning in Red Archer's. Nothing is like that, everything is different. That is when i realized, different company has different working ways. What i learned in these two subjects are for corporate or advertising companies, as i worked in Beverly Wilshire Medical Centre as a brand exec, nothing about events or pr department, i realized with money we could just hire a pr company and hire a graphic/ web designer.  All i did was just managing social media and some ads and meetings.

After many bad experiences i had, i tried to look for my passion and what i really want to do, so thanks to a friend of mine, she introduced me to Yelp. WHAT IS THAT? It's a review website where you can find whatever you want to find such as tour agents, parks and recreation, Cafe for desserts.. etc.. Basically its your service website when you need it and it;s like Trip Advisor.
I found my love in working at home and having to manage my own time. I love it, it's so flexible!

Many people told me "Congrats on your graduation, welcome to the real working world", i didn't believe that for a second i thought, why do i have to feel the real working world after graduation? Been in the real working world the moment i started my internship for 6 months.

 WEDDING!

At the same day, it was our first wedding we attended together and i was in dilemma whether to give Ang Pao or a gift. A chinese - indian wedding! it was so fun!
Charmander and i

my outfit of the night

The bride and a bunch of monkeys behind photobombing! she's the girl whom persuaded me to start a blog and inviting me to events

You could call me a slow groomer for not starting early or knowing things early  but i guess college has really opened up my mind.

 That's all for now!
Time to Yelp away!

Valentine's Day 2015

I know this is super late post but i have been so caught up with everything. Thank god Valentine's Day was during weekends and not weekday. I woke up late in the afternoon, wished my mother and went out to buy her a rose.

Charmander and I started our day at 5pm and i asked him where are we going and he said it is a surprise.
I am not a flower person because no matter how pretty they are, they will die! you spend Rm400-Rm100 - It will all die! and i dont like to waste money like that, you could rather use the money to buy me a bracelet or a bag or something.
So we came to Michelangelo to eat, Charmander chose this because he came here not long ago and really wanted me to try the escargot.

Surrounded with garlic bread, baked cheese escargot and sprinkled with some olive oil! So YUMMY!

Of all things i ordered instead of steak or fish cod or something to fine dining i ordered clam aglio olio!. what is thisss ! I have this thing to seafood! Love seafood!
Well it turns out my aglio olio was not very much the wrong decision i made, it as perfectly soft mixed with spices, lots of olive oil and the clam was fresh.

Charmander ordered the bacon cabonara, look below at how much bacon is there and this is one of the best cabonara i have ever tasted. It was just so creamy and milky. OMG SO GOOD! TASTED LIKE HEAVEN! The mushroom soup was delicious, it has a very strong mushroom flavour instead of tasting cream mushroom.

WHAT A GREAT EXPERIENCE IN FINE DINING.

Nooks by BakerDave @ Plaza Damas 3

I always attend food reviews but this time but i always realized something is always missing - appreciations. Usually bloggers come and go with only 2 -3 hours but i am glad the food review ended with laughters, cup of cuppa and mingling sessions.  So i met the owner when i came here for lunch one day and i was eating the pumpkin chicken rice and i was amazed by it's homecook style and no MSG and no GST! Everything here is baked and cooked and grind from scratch even the bread! The bread contains black sesame, wholemeal flaxseed and multigrain.

Nobody left empty handed - Nooks does customized cakes and cookies, everybody went home with homemade espresso almond butter cookie, butter cookie made with 100% french butter in the shape of a sheep, authentic rubber cup to be used as speakers when you are in a corner, and tote bag only for bloggers.
I approached bloggers to do a food review and if you are interested for me to call you for more food reviews, you could email me - on the right side bar as i have more coming soon of if you want me to manage social media and help you advertise, you could also email me.

First of all, why i choose this cafe, not only it has a geometric 3D interior which is super nice and well decorated. The food is unique and different from the norm.

Appetizer before heavy meals, shredded cucumbers and carrots dip in homemade honey mustard sauce.
Before you see the picture, please bare in mind that the way it is being served is meant for the food review for photo purposes, the portion and size of the food may not be the same as the picture.
Introducing you the sesame chicken pasta - this meal is vegeterian as the cafe also wants to cater to vegeterian people. The sesame is grinded and made from scratch and even the chicken is vegeterian. I honestly love this dish, it is so saucy at the same time HEALTHY!

The menu
Since they closed on a Sunday, this event is specially for bloggers. Little details are the best.

Homemade rendang chicken with rice, not too feeling and not oily, they do pay attention to the amounf of calories, see how perfectly fresh the eggs is and the rendang is cooked to it's prefection, texture is soft and taste like homecook food. Maybe spicy so get ready cold drinks.

Nooks Breakfast - comes with egg wrap in turkey ham, chiken sausage and a slice of sesame crispy toast with french butter ans strawberry jam. Will be a satisfying breakfast indeed.

Nooks Duo - you know how breakfast is always so boring egg, ham , cheese, Nooks made a little twist, what about having mini burgers as breakfast? - Comes with healthy scramble, tomato, cucumber, and tuna mayo. The tuna is also cooked using their own style to bring out the smooth flavour so you dont have a fishy taste.

One of the best dish i love. Spicy Cabonara, This is not the normal cabonara you eat elsewhere, like i said this cafe does control calories, sometimes you dont want the food to be too heavy. Imagine eating a cheesy and saucy with a little spicy flavour and egg yolk together. The blend and texture is melts in your mouth, the chickan ham and shitake mushrooms brought out the flavor. A satisfying meal indeed.
The very first meal i tried when i first got here, the famous and also healthy pumpkin chicken curry with rice. the chicken breast is perfectly cooked, not too dry and not too soft, easy to eat with ricewith egg, tomatoes and cucumber.
The homemade Nooks Signature burger, from the outside, the patty does not seem wet or watery but the taste is tasted homecook. The buns is made by themselves.

The super delicious mango cheese cake, while blending the bater, they blend the fresh mango at the same time to bring out the mango taste. This cake is reach in mango that you can hardly even taste the cheese.

3 types of chocolate heaven in this cake - just see how tempting  it is, made with chocolate cake, chocolate fudge and chocolate mousse. SO SO GOOD!

Here is one thing special about Nooks, you get to customized your own breakfast, such as if you do not like scramble eggs, you could replaced it with fried egg, if you do not want rice, you could replaced it with pasta. All depends on your requirements.

Everyone has their pic taken in the entrance

Mad About Coco @ Publika

I first saw this place when i had glance on the eye- catching interior and big sign, this is above Mee Jawa in Publika.

This place got its own unique work with chocolate but i think the chocolate here is not as rich or creamy for it to melt in your mouth unlike Dip & Dip/

Who would have thought making a banana marshmallow chocolate pizza , it sounds something different than any other place but the pizza dough may be quite hard for you to bite.

The innocent tiramisu ball cake is bestselling and the waiter will pour milk chocolate into the ball as i watched the ball slowly melt. So imagine eating chocolate with milk chocolate AND Tiramisu. The price is also quite reasonable to indulge in.

Hot chocolate

banana, marshmallow and pizza dough drenched in chocolate

Also you can rent the back of the place for a small party.

Outdoor Seating - Yes
Opening Hours - 11.30am - 11.30pm
