Last friday and saturday i went to camp as a volunteer under Rock Corps for "Save our Rainforest race" organized by Peka
I met many friends because they came from many places. We went Chamang Waterfall in Bentong, Pahang
NO LINE AT ALL!!
We settled out tents and a few stayed while the rest hike up to get ready for the race the next day. 5KM up on the mountain. i felt like the path is never ending and my legs just kept on walking and walking. Leaders/ committee of Rock corps brought so many water bottles up. Thank god!
So .....charmander had more stamina then me and he was wearing boots! ;0. wth! while we were climbing up together i kept shouting to keep me entertain and started singing taylor swift songs and motivated myself saying "I can do it!" then he shut me off saying in a cute way " bunny, do you know talking waste your energy" ( yeap he calls me bunny). so i shuddup. ish. We had 2 bus of volunteers and we carried props, wood and all to set up. Rork Corps done a great job on the schedule because we were actually ahead of time. The weather was "amazing" i have sun burn on my face!. All together there were 5 checkpoints! By the time we reached checkpoint 3 we kong for 30 min. haha! one of the malay guy was resting, closing his eyes, we continued hiking and FINALLY reach checkpoint 4. 4 and 5 is just beside each other. Checkpoint 4 was an open area Peka already set and categorized the type of tree participants plant.
After all that, guess who we got down the mountain?
4 WHEEL DRIVE! woohoo!
It was a bumpy and jumpy and so many holes and a fun ride!!
Charmander and i reached down at 6pm and i was soo happy i reached back! Those volunteers who stayed was busting their ass off trying to make a fire using arang batu and the guy was fanning and fanning the fire. End up it was a campfire!! charmander and i went mandi sungai after sweating like shit and going under the hot sun for long!!

Everyone came down and started finishing up the mash potatoes and so many chickens! CHICKENS! one of my friend, hong he had on metal net to cook the chicken whereelese the other metal net had 2 malay guys cooking. i kept asking hong for drumstick coz he studies hospitality ( culinary is in it too). "Hong drumstick!" hehe. hen the mini sausages came and the ramly steak but i didnt manage to eat them because everyone started cooking. Thank god i had snacks in the tent. After dinner, went to sleep at 8 ish coz the next day will be tiring. So i tidur mati and the project manager of rock corps shouted while strumming the guitar "Oh right, im going go pass this to.. to sing!!!" and i didnt know they were having a camp acoustic haha! i continued sleeping .. started raining!! and woke up at 5.30am coz i needed to pee. i woke up charmander coz i was scared of leeches and stuff so he used his torch light and we went together.
So the event started 9am sharp the next day. charmander and i was appointed to checkpoint 4 ( the ope area) and went up with a 4 wheel drive again! wee!! so he standby there for an hour or more. Sun started to come up so the moment we settled down on a shade, one of the participants walked up and started planting the tree. they were the fastest one, when they were about to finish, the crowd came and then one big crowd came. Now the main event is for participants to climb up at 4 and plant a tree. they will be given a tree sapling, and then their partner ( teams of 2) run to 5 take water using a tempurung and go bak to 4 and water and then get chopped.

The founder of Rockcorps and founded by The Zhariff Initiative ( TZI) came up. Charmander was clapping and said " i respect you". Zhariff was born with no hands but his happy, he used his leg as his hands and the moment when they were planting tree, i wanted to take pic of him, but camera died right in front of me. ishh. so i ask the photogrpaher next to me for his pic and he said " im from hong kong press" ;0
After the event, MANDI SUNGAI AGAIN. PACK, CHILL, LUNCH. food was sponsored by concorde hotel and more and slept like a baby in the bus.
